Brown bins

A very productive session with newlincs management team today. We have identified some savings but I don't think it will cover the £350,000 we need to locate. This is a very contentious issue for all in North East Lincolnshire. I hope we can come up with some ideas to sort the problems. Of course if Eric Pickles got his backside into gear we would be ok.

Lincoln castle

I have been offered the anchor from the lincoln castle by Tony Booth from Tonys autos. I think the friends of the freshney will be able to make a good monument with it. At least some of the Lincoln Castle will still be in the West Marsh.

Empty housing

There is finally some action on the empty homes front from the council. A new trial will be starting soon shared by shoreline and balfour beatty to try to tackle this huge problem. Details are yet to be finalised but it looks like there is definite substance this time. Fingers crossed.

Cartergate news and booze

The review of the premises licence was held for the above off licence today which I called in at the end of September. I have to say their legal team was very good and they gave a very good case. But on the back of this they agreed to put stickers on all of the alcohol containers with their details to make sure the police can identify if the sales to the street drinkers are from there. After we called the premises into review all the anti social behaviour stopped. Funny that. And all the drinkers no longer use the area half as much. I think that was worth my grilling earlier.

Why does it cost 3.50 on the day you take in the death certificate to get a registrars copy. But then it costs 7.00 on the next day. Is it council policy to abuse the bereaved.

Yours offended.

Inspected footpath on 26th October. Noted slight deterioration between
Church and the Bungalows but nothing that meets the Council's Service

Kerb and footpath replacement

Hi Jason,

I have been led to believe recently that there is no repair and maintenance schedule for the above in the West Marsh. Surly this cannot be correct. Would you please look into this issue for me as the elderly and deprived population is quite high on the West Marsh so we have lots of people with poor mobility unable to get around as they cannot afford the transport and are unable to walk because of the deplorable condition of the foot paths and kerbs.

Bus Service Setbacks

The ERDF bid has been gained successfully. However Balfour beatty has messed up the tendering process so it will be delayed in reaching fruition. I can only hope balfour betty get their act together quickly to sort this problem out before we loose the money!

Community Asset Mapping

Working in partnership with john at vanel we are looking to set up a community asset map of the West Marsh. I have had a preliminary meet with John about this and we need to sit down with Ian to sort out a plan of action. This strategy looks very interesting ans would change community involvement in the area for the positive I am sure.

Wharton street

I had a request for gating of an access point to the side of wharton street. This is proving a challenge at the moment because it contains garages. We are working on a solution where by we only need give two weeks notice by way of a letter before we install gates this would enable gates to go up very quickly. I am keeping the complainant informed.

Shoreline housing

I am currently having massive problems with shoreline housing in Bemrose way. I will possibly be doing a feature in the GET about it More info to follow.

River freshney project

We are well underway with the river project and will recommence battle on monday the 22nd of August hopefully with council help and some more robust cutting gear we should be victorious. As always we will be happy for anyone's help.

On the back of this we are forming a comittee who hope to take on a section of the river banks for thier own and then we will be looking to place a bid for funding to help us dredge the river.

We also hope the group will be able to teach children fishing skills and to rent the pavillion in the DOYG. This could kill several birds with one stone.
