Bemrose Way

Its looking good on the Bemrose Way front I think they will be chopping down the two big trees that the residents are complaining about and it also looks like they will be looking at fencing to stop ASB in the area.

jhonny dohnuts

I sat on the licensing commettie today to decide if JD should have live music. We granted the permission for them to do this provided it was well menaged with a few small conditions. The main one was to limit the hours to 10pm and only have performances on weekends and bank holidays.

Police update

I spent a few minutes today in a meeting with the pcso's to talk about the recent problems with the gangs in Gilby Road it looks like they may be close to getting one of the ring leaders. We also talked about a family in Beeson Grove that appear to be causing a lot of trouble for some of the residents in the area. Let's hope we can get a result for this one soon.

I have asked empty homes officers to look at 223 Corporation Rd and get it secured. I have been approached again about the large hedges near Ravenspurn Way I will look for a solution to this with Ian soon. Awesome day in the community hopefully one of many to come.

Parking Scheme Frederick Street

I have been asked by residents of frederick street to initiate a resident only parking scheme. It will be started after the parking review is completed. I will be going door to door with this one in frederick street and also hope to get in the paper with it.

aa garden center Charleton Street

A complaint has come in regarding AA Garden center. It has been set ablaze and the complainant is worried that the asbestos will be distributed in the surrounding area. I am going to get this checked out asap.

Bus Service Setbacks

The ERDF bid has been gained successfully. However Balfour beatty has messed up the tendering process so it will be delayed in reaching fruition. I can only hope balfour betty get their act together quickly to sort this problem out before we loose the money!

Working Tax Credits

I had a lady contact me two weeks ago from the ward who had not been paid her working tax credits for 14 weeks. She was in tears on the phone and clearly distraught. I contact Austins office and hey presto she was united with her money two days later.

Happy I could help
The funding request for the west marsh community center nets has been filled out and once I get Ian's signature it will be processed.

Community Asset Mapping

Working in partnership with john at vanel we are looking to set up a community asset map of the West Marsh. I have had a preliminary meet with John about this and we need to sit down with Ian to sort out a plan of action. This strategy looks very interesting ans would change community involvement in the area for the positive I am sure.

Ravenspurn way

A request for the hedges in Ravenspurn way has been brought to my attention. I hope to see this gentleman soon to sort this problem.

Drunks in Catergate

We are looking to call in a licence review of the off licence in Catergate for selling to intoxicated people. an update will follow.

Wharton street

I had a request for gating of an access point to the side of wharton street. This is proving a challenge at the moment because it contains garages. We are working on a solution where by we only need give two weeks notice by way of a letter before we install gates this would enable gates to go up very quickly. I am keeping the complainant informed.

Elsenham Rd

I am working hard with the police to stop asb in Elsenham Rd we have already had one arrest and soon expect others to follow.

Shoreline housing

I am currently having massive problems with shoreline housing in Bemrose way. I will possibly be doing a feature in the GET about it More info to follow.

River freshney project

We are well underway with the river project and will recommence battle on monday the 22nd of August hopefully with council help and some more robust cutting gear we should be victorious. As always we will be happy for anyone's help.

On the back of this we are forming a comittee who hope to take on a section of the river banks for thier own and then we will be looking to place a bid for funding to help us dredge the river.

We also hope the group will be able to teach children fishing skills and to rent the pavillion in the DOYG. This could kill several birds with one stone.
